Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. Tama County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to answer and manage the communication. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor loads a page, standard server and analytics records can collect technical details such as:
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Internet Protocol address
- Viewed pages and approximate visit duration
- Referring website, when available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure traffic, popular pages, and points where visits end. Analytics providers may combine those measurements into site-level reports. A browser can reject or remove cookies, though doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the provider selected by the visitor
- Diagnosing errors, abuse, and performance problems
- Operating and improving page speed and availability
- Measuring which resource pages are useful
- Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Tama County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general access information for the Tama County Sheriff's Office, Iowa District Court, the Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. The provider chooses its retention, processing, and sharing rules. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Tama County sheriff, Iowa court portals, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search tools. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal details.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Tama County Criminal History does not control that outside tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers receiving a query submitted through their tool
- Advertising networks serving ads on the website
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet system can be guaranteed secure, however, and this policy does not promise that a breach or unauthorized access can never occur.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If data from a minor is identified, it will be removed after a valid request.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary by residence and applicable law. Iowa Code chapter 22 governs access to public records held by government bodies; Iowa Code sections 692.5 and 692.18 address access to, challenge of, and dissemination of Iowa criminal-history information. Those laws concern government records and do not turn this private site into the custodian of Tama County files. For information actually held here, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal data maintained about that visitor
- Ask that inaccurate visitor information be corrected
- Request deletion where applicable law permits it
- Opt out of processing where an applicable right allows it
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change as site practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will be posted here with its new effective date.
